“We absolutely love our coop door, and I tell everyone it is the best investment we have made so far in setting up our new farm! We are about to build a second chicken house for another area, and another door will be an absolute must!!”

I love my new automatic chicken coop door. I have been using it for a few weeks now without fail. The foxes and raccoons are plotting a strike against your company I hear. The installation was easy and it works great. Keep up the good work!

Thank you for the wonderful product! We have an elderly coop that has had a power antenna door opener. It worked ok but would only last a few months before burning up. I appreciate the positive shut off to keep the motor from burning up with your product. Also the slip pin to keep it from braking. The product has only been installed for a few days but is working as expected.
Thank you

Since we live on the side of a mountain, we built a platform for our new chicken coop. We ordered an 8x10 shed from Home Depot. We customized it with an easy to clean roost and shelf arrangement, added insulation, electrical, an epoxy coated floor and of course our automatic coop door. The coop door is amazing...over 6 years and no failures and no chickens lost!

The metal building was there when we moved to this property two years ago. Now that we have 14 chickens, they appreciate the extra space in the larger hen house. I have used the small one in the winter, as it is very well insulated, but it doesn't have nearly as much room. When it gets cold, I plan to purchase another automatic door opener for the other hen house and move it into the pen. That way, if we have to be gone for a day or two, the chickens can still get out into their play yard without the danger of the neighbor's dogs getting to them. I ended up having to pour a concrete floor in the metal hen house because predators kept digging under the side walls and killing our hens. Even now, I see evidence of digging around the sides of the hen house, but they are unable to get in with the concrete floor. The automatic door opener is a wonderful thing. Now, if we are at a movie until late in the evening after dark, we don't have to worry about raccoons or possums getting in the hen house, and we don't have to lock them up before we leave for the evening.

Thank you to Amish Built Coops for giving us a video of our doors on the coops. They include our Automatic Chicken Coop Door's on their coop's.
Loving my D20 coop door motors.
I thought I would share my set ups to maybe help other customers with ideas.
I will be moving these once I get a new bigger coop built.
The doors themselves are 0.063” thick aluminum painted with epoxy paint. The door rails or guides are pieces of 5/4 deck flooring boards ripped down to the needed width and a router was used to groove out the actual slot the doors ride in. If I had this to do over, I would hold the guide rails up about an inch to keep dirt from gathering in the bottom and holding the door up. I keep having to clean them out.
The battery is a Duracell Ultra 12 volt 8ah. It runs both doors. I have 2 timers, one for each door. I have the timers offset so as not to run both doors at the same time. The timers are 12 volt and bought off Amazon for around $9 each. The battery would probably handle both doors at once, but why push it if you don’t have to?
The solar panel is 1.5 watt bought from Harbor Freight for around $14. It does fine keeping the battery fully charged.
The battery box I already had. They can be found at Wal-Mart or Amazon for around $10.
The motor covers I made to keep the motors dry and clean. The covers are made of Plexiglass just because I had some laying around. I would recommend using Lexan if covers are needed. Lexan would be much easier to work with. I will be mounting these indoors when the new coop is built.
Thank you,
Paul
This is a wonderful means for making your Automatic Chicken Coop Door Solar/Battery Powered. But Automatic Chicken Coop Door highly suggests mounting the motor inside the coop so it is not easily exposed to the elements. This will ensure long term use of our Model D20 Motors.
We have a variety of 20 chickens that share two henhouses. I built a corridor of sorts to join the two coups together and allow for a single entrance/exit for the birds. We live in hawk country in Maine so I have installed netting in their run areas to prevent casualties. After a year so far so good.

The Door from AutomaticChickenCoopDoor.com comes with a basic timer but can be easily unplugged to use a WeMo or Raynic (any brand should work) Wi-Fi controller with your phone. If you have your coop close enough to the house to have a steady Wi-Fi signal it's easy to set up and will save you from having to run out in the rain or snow to open or close the coop door.
Thanks for easy install. Great quality product!
